[excerpt] => Northern Italy in August is hot, hot, hot. Thankfully there are plenty of places to cool down. Two of the coolest by far are Mirabilandia and Aquafan. Mirabilandia offers the world’s tallest waterslide while Aquafan hosts the biggest water aerobics class you could ever hope to take part in.

When we arrived at the park and parked our car in the nearby car park (which cost €5), we were met by Rita, the marketing manager for Aquafan. She showed us around the park proudly telling us that the park is celebrating its 30th birthday this year.

[excerpt] => Located in Stavio in Emilia-Romagna on the east coast of Italy, people come from as far afield as Venice to visit Mirabilandia. However, we only had to travel 20 minutes (20km) from our apartment in Marina di Ravenna. At 30 hectares, with an additional 10 hectare ‘Mirabeach’ water park, Mirabilandia is Italy’s largest theme park. There are an excellent variety of rides catering for all ages and bravery levels. The park categorise the rides as ‘Intense’, ‘Moderate’ or ‘Soft’ and these are displayed in the information map you can pick up as you enter the park.

Well-known as a beach resort of the Emilia-Romagna region for Summer holidays, Cervia actually has a lot of charm apart from its wide beaches.
